ThinkPad – A Mobile PC Icon for 15 Years.
IBM ThinkPad laptops are really considered as the symbols of computer facilities of personal use. Today laptops celebrate its anniversary. The most courageous and unordinary innovative ideas have been realized in ThinkPad laptops, since the beginning of these computers release in 1992. During all these 15 years, they were the sample of reasonableness, functionality and reliability.
Groups of leading engineers and developers have created ThinkPad. There was a purpose to create useful and compact personal computer. Two subjects were the sources of inspiration for them: Shokado bento - traditional Japanese small breakfast suitcase, covered by a black varnish, and a pocket notebook used by IBM employees with motto Think ("Think") on a cover.
Black color dominates over the design of laptops. Keyboard is very recognizable, and that has created its reputation of a high-quality product. ThinkPad laptops took the honorable place in the computer history.
The very first ThinkPad - ThinkPad 700C - was the first laptop with the 10,4-inch TFT-screen and innovative manipulator TrackPoint. Since that moment mobile computers ThinkPad were first not just once. Here is the incomplete list of innovations:

· First laptop with illumination of the keyboard (ThinkLight);
· First laptop with built in adapter Wi-Fi;
· First laptop with weight less than one and a half kgs with the full-size keyboard;

· First laptop with the built in dactyloscopic gauge and enciphering of the information on the winchester;
· First laptop working independently (with the increased battery) till 11 oclock.
More than 30 million ThinkPad laptops sold in the world. Different models of ThinkPad family have won more than 1000 awards - more, than any other laptops mark. Now the business of development and manufacture of ThinkPad laptops belongs to Chinese Company Lenovo.
