Lenovo has outsourced the production of notebooks to Quanta Computer, Wistron and Compal, while outsourcing the production of its first 10.1-inch tablet PCs to Compal. The company has also subcontracted the production of handsets to Wistron NeWeb, a subsidiary of Wistron.

Wistron shipped a record high of 900,000 TVs in March, with Sony as its primary client. Compal shipped 520,000 TVs during the same month, compared to 410,000 units shipped in February, the sources indicated. Toshiba and Hitachi are Compal's major TV clients.

Lenovo is likely to release its smart TV orders starting the second half, the sources asserted.
