Kensington ShareCentral: a simple solution for the joint access to USB-devices

Kensington expanded its product line by launching ShareCentral devices meant for the joint usage of peripherals with the USB plug-in by 2 computers simultaneously.

The situation when several users need an access to the same USB-devices is quite common. The research conducted by Markettools claims that approximately more than 40% of families in the USA have computers at home. In 70% of these cases the computers are used as servers for the joint access to the resources. The most frequently used devices for a joint access are the printer (50%), the scanner (30%) and the external storage (22%).

The ShareCentral devices enable to solve the problem without the creation of a local network or a server allocation. They are plugged in to each of two PCs with USB cables and the jointly used device is plugged in to the ShareCentral. After that with just a simple button down, you can switch it from one PC to the other. Furthermore, ShareCentral2 and ShareCentral5 come with an Automatic Print Sharing function. It traces which computer addresses the printer and switches automatically.

The list of the new devices include:

ShareCentral 5 (SKU K33901US)

ShareCentral 5 (SKU K33901US) — five USB ports;

ShareCentral 2 (SKU K33900US)

ShareCentral 2 (SKU K33900US) — two USB ports;

ShareCentral 1 (SKU K33903US)

ShareCentral 1 (SKU K33903US) — one USB port.

Kensington plans to supply the ShareCentral devices at the end of this month.
