Toshiba notebooks are equipped with mobile broadband access using HSPA

Toshiba business notebooks will be equipped  with Ericsson integrated support for mobile broadband access using HSPA. HSPA is the most widespread broadband mobile technology. At the moment there are 198 available networks in 86 countries.

Due to the growing expansion of WLAN technology, the demand for high-speed mobile broadband network access continuously increases. According to the analysts’ forecasts, the notebook will remain the main business tool. One of the key roles will be given to HSPA technology.

The cooperation between Toshiba and Ericsson will meld their rich experience. “Toshiba as a powerful player on the business notebooks market and Ericsson with its huge experience in the mobile broadband network will perfectly compliment to each other. Together we will be able to create attractive products that will assist to our customers in all aspects of their work” – says Tomas Tekentrup, general manager at Toshiba Europe personal computers unit.

The users will soon enjoy the advantages of the new HSPA technology due to the modules providing the input speed of up to 7.2 MB/sec and the output speed of up to 2.0 Mb/sec. Apart from that, the modules are equipped with GPS-receivers, which can be jointly used with navigation applications.

The first Toshiba notebooks, equipped with mobile broadband modules, will be introduced on the market in the second half of 2008.
