Samsung Electronics Starts Cooperation with AMD

Samsung R455The share of mobile computers with AMD processors is quite presentable. According to GFK, 16.1% of laptops sold in Russia over the period from September 2007 to September 2008 were based on AMD processors. In money terms, the share of such mobile PCs amounted to 14.8%.

"We just cannot ignore such a substantial share of the market, which machines with AMD occupy. So, we made a decision to start production of mobile computers with solutions from this company. The quality and innovations of AMD products push up their share of the market. Serious research work of AMD engineers enables them to offer high quality product at an adequate price. Over the past years some technology solutions from AMD keep the leading positions or move one step ahead of competitors," said Alexander Kalinin, head of notebook product marketing department of Samsung Electronics.

R455 and R505 laptops will be the first models to accommodate AMD processors. They are based on AMD Puma using AMD Turion X2 and X2 Ultra processors. Puma is a revolutionary solution, which organically integrates three key requirements for modern notebooks: it provides an excellent HD video, the most advanced 3D-graphics and the best productivity of a mobile PC.
