Toshiba Forecast Portable PC Sales to Grow by Q3 2010

Toshiba presented their view of the laptop market at the 6th annual IT-business forum DCC (Digital Consumer Channel) from June 17 to June 19, 2009, taking place in the Le Meridien Moscow Country Club in Nakhabino near Moscow.
The company forecasts certain increase in sales in Q3 and Q4 2009, dramatic decrease in demand in Q1 and Q2 2010 followed by the market growth starting from Q3 2010.

Seasonal growth of the portable PC market in the Q3 and Q4 will be driven by the beginning of the academic year and a high season, though the beginning of 2010 would see a decline, which may become even worse than at the start of 2009. A Toshiba speaker called to the market players to be the most positive and open in order to protect business, continue development and preserve relationships between all suppliers.

According to the speaker, the Q3 growth in sales will be driven by three basic factors. A major factor behind the growing demand is a positive experience to be accumulated since the launch of Windows 7 operating system. Further reasons are the wide spread of WIMAX networks and a critical mass of delayed demand for new PCs.

Toshiba have been an active player at the DCC 2009 forum. The company has presented its newest products, including Satellite laptops, compact camcorders and HDDs. Company representatives had a good deal of one-to-one meetings with resellers, which appreciated company’s new products, sales policy and strategy in the market. Toshiba acted as a technical sponsor of the DCC 2009.
