Asustek aims at becoming top vendor of Android tablet PCs in 2H12
Asustek Computer has set a challenging goal of  attaining the largest global market share for Android-based tablet PCs  in the second half of 2012, company CEO Jerry Shen has told a recent  investors conference.
Asustek will launch Windows 8  table PCs as well in the third quarter of 2012, Shen said. Zenbook,  Asustek's ultrabook series, has accounted for 10% of the total notebook  shipments and the proportion is expected to reach 10-20% by the end of  2012, Shen indicated.
Asustek recorded consolidated  revenues of NT$90.912 billion (US$3.08 billion), gross margin of 13.9%,  net operating profit of NT$4.74 billion, net profit of NT$5.005 billion  and net earnings per share (EPS) of NT$6.65 for the first quarter of  2012.
