Netgear Announces 2008 Results in Russia

In 2008, Russian rep. office of Netgear, an independent provider of networking equipment and solutions, increased its sales in the Russian market 98% year-on-year. This was mostly due to high demand for wireless routers and networking equipment from small and medium businesses.

Despite of decrease in global sales of Netgear products in 4Q2008, the Russian office managed to increase sales of networking equipment 19% compared to 3Q2008.

Netgears key tasks in Russia are to develop networking equipment sales channel and expand partnership chain. The number of Netgear partners in Russia increased 70% y-o-y to 385 partners, regularly buying Netgear products. In 2008, Netgear signed distribution contracts with MICS, Verysell, NetLab, OLDI, and expanded its presence in local retail segment. Currently Netgear equipment is sold in 460 retail outlets, compared to 200 shops in 2007.

In 2008, Netgear Russian office opened more than 30 service centers over Russia and launched technical support hot line for users of networking equipment.

"In 2009, despite of financial crisis, we are planning to growth further. SMB is our priority segment and we are ready to offer them fine networking solutions based on Smart-communicators with life-time guarantee and the ReadyNAS network storage systems, which are effective and money-saving replacement of file-servers," Dmitry Tanyukhin, head of Netgear Russian office, said.
